Steve , keep posting mate , advice is good , people have the choice to take it or leave it .
You've hit a nerve ,so I feel a rant coming on !!
I've lost count of the times Iv'e been to A/P over the last 25 years , talked to newbees at the bar b q about methods , styles etc , been ignored , then had to listen to the same people grumbling about not catching mid week , so have sat with them shown them a few A/P tricks & thev'e started catching !!!!!!!! ,hence they've wasted half thier holiday.
A/P's about having a great time , learning new skills ,meeting new like mindedfriends & catching decent fish.
I've been an angler for 45 years & still "take on" new idea's, advice & techniques , the day I stop learning is the day I hang up my rods , curl up my toes & say night night.
Cheers Tom
P.S. Just to prove a point thanks for showing me that new knot at "The big one" a couple of weeks ago , it has already proved to be very useful. |

No way Steve I bow to your superior knowledge of a location you know way better than I do... I'm still learning from some of your old posts.
And I think there is one thing that should be remembered... people will always need advice, even on locations they've been going to for years, as we all know, fish are fickle and will change their tatse in bate one year to the next... so what I would like to see is more input from people coming back from AP... Steve has set up a nice few threads for each lake and they are hardly used...
Come on you fellow AP'ers, let's see some feedback on your catches and baits.

This is true that people old and young alike will always be after that dream fish or even a decent days fishing and if someone wants to and is willing to aid this dream then GREAT! And if anyone has a big issue with that then let them struggle on lol!! I think steve and semper and many many more of the fine ap clan do a smashing job on this forum with all the good information on the lakes and basically all about ap in general so keep up the good work boys and gals!!!!! _________________ 'Keep ya nets wet and them elastics pullin' |

Thanks Semp, also for trying to push for others to put in their tuppence worth on the individual lake blogs.
Tom, its not just you who's learning mate, It's me as well !! As that great man Billy Lane once said " I may be world champion but I will never know it all !"
As for helping people, well I do try to get people to answer their own questions with the knowledge they already have or guide them to where with a bit of effort they can find the information that is already available. Some information changes with time, like the need for 10lb line and meganormus landing nets to even float fish Easy Access lake but the site crew always forget to tell you on this, their website but seem to leave to the likes of me _________________ Be lucky.

Steve
I was lucky enough to have met & competed alongside Billy Lane , I'lll never forget how shocked I was when he pegged up next to me on the Trent.
A few minutes later his mate who gillied for him, turned with a builders whelbarrow full to the brim with sacks of groundbait.
He mixed it up in the barrow , using a sack hourly.
This was in the days before sponsorship , but open matches were 3 - 5 hundred peggers so the pools & pot were big money.
I came 2nd in the section behind Billy & 2nd equal in the match(Billy won) , as a junior I could not recieve a payout ,Billy felt bad about that so gave me his 15' match rod & loads of floats (which I still have now)
The next time I met him , he sat behind me for the entire match & coached me ,I very much doubt if any modern matchman would give up a match today.
Billy was truely great angler & gentleman.
The moral is always try to give back to the sport , what the sport has given you , pass on skills & knowledge , always help out other anglers & remember that kids are the future of our sport.

Tom, anybody whatever their age who is starting out needs a bit of help sometimes.
The younger ones are usually to scared to ask, the older ones to proud.
I just wish it was easier for those who would like a bit of help could write somewhere their questions!!

It's better to have too much info on here than nowt. If you disagree with some advice, suggest an alternative. If your not interested ignore it. For most of us any idea is worth considering.

| Unfortunately there are some really grumpy people out there and its them that need to go and stop bothering the rest who dont like to moan and be helpful and friendly. One question how long have you been writing on this sight as it must be a fair few years. I am off in 4 weeks and if you have any suggestions on boilie flavours that would be a help to me. |
